Events

 

Providing social connection and opportunities for all to learn is an important goal for Neighborhood Falmouth.  To that end, we sponsor a member luncheon annually, as well as monthly Dutch treat “Meet for Lunch” events at various local restaurants. We also support a book group and periodic programs on topics of interest to our membership, and we encourage members to form other groups based on their interests. Transportation can be arranged for members to attend these gatherings.

Tuesday, September 19

Join us for the NF Book Club. The book for June is “The Red Coat" by Dolley Carlson.  We will meet at the Falmouth Library in the Trustees Room at 2:00 P.M. On Tuesday, October 24, we'll be discussing The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu by Joshua Hammer.  We welcome new members, and rides are available.

 

Wednesday, September 20

Our monthly Meet for Lunch has been cancelled this month, given the prediction for terrible weather on Wednesday. Join us at the Coonamessett Inn on Wednesday, October 18 at 11:45 A.M. when we'll reconvene!

 

Saturday, September 23

"Helping Hands, Helping Seniors: It’s a Matter of Balance", 10:30 A.M. at the Waquoit Congregational Church Hall.

Please let your friends know about this presentation to inform the community about volunteering for and membership in Neighborhood Falmouth. We’ll also learn some tips for fall prevention and balance.

 

Monday, September 25

Video Broadcast Lecture with Dr. Atul Gawande, Falmouth Library, Hermann Room, 5:00–6:00 P.M., Doors open 4:30 P.M. Rescheduled from February, renowned author and surgeon Dr. Atul Gawande will speak from Boston on the value of community, and opportunities, as we grow older. The presentation is free, and (this is a change) we are not taking reservations. First come, first seated. There will be an open Q & A period about Neighborhood Falmouth immediately following the simulcast.

 

Wednesday, October 11

Our periodic "Aging Anonymous" gatherings continue with a discussion of “The Pets in Our Lives.” at Dillingham Place at 2:00 P.M.. Bobbie Miner facilitates the discussion. Please let us know if you want to attend. Refreshments provided.

 

Wednesday, October 18

Our monthly Meet for Lunch is headed to the Coonamessett Inn, and we’ll start at 11:45 A.M.. We order from the menu, and get separate checks. Call the office to reserve a place or if you need a ride. Members, volunteers and guests are always welcome.
